The Biral BTD-300 Thunderstorm Detector is a high-performance standalone lightning detection system designed to provide real-time thunderstorm monitoring and early warning of overhead lightning risk. Using Biral's advanced quasi-electrostatic sensing technology, the BTD-300 detects all forms of lightning—including cloud-to-cloud, cloud-to-ground, and intra-cloud discharges—while also monitoring atmospheric electric fields and charged precipitation to warn of developing thunderstorms before the first lightning strike occurs.
With an impressive 83 km (51 miles) detection range, the BTD-300 exceeds many conventional standalone lightning detectors by offering highly accurate storm ranging, exceptional immunity to radio interference, and an extremely low false alarm rate.
