The Biral SWS-200 Visibility & Present Weather Sensor is an advanced forward scatter optical sensor designed to provide accurate Meteorological Optical Range (MOR) visibility measurements together with intelligent present weather detection. Engineered for continuous outdoor operation, the SWS-200 accurately identifies rain, drizzle, snow, hail, and other precipitation types while delivering reliable visibility data for aviation, road weather, marine, industrial, and meteorological applications.
Featuring Biral's proprietary optical technology with an additional backscatter receiver, the SWS-200 offers superior discrimination between liquid and frozen precipitation, enabling compliance with WMO Table 4680 weather reporting standards. Its rugged construction, automatic contamination compensation, heated optics, and built-in diagnostics ensure dependable performance in the harshest environmental conditions.
The sensor supports multiple industry-standard communication interfaces, including RS232, RS422, RS485, 0–10 V analogue output, optional 4–20 mA output, and programmable alarm relays, allowing easy integration into SCADA systems, airport weather stations, road weather information systems (RWIS), and environmental monitoring networks.
