The Biral VPF-710 Visibility Sensor is a premium forward scatter visibility sensor engineered to deliver highly accurate Meteorological Optical Range (MOR) and Extinction Coefficient (EXCO) measurements in the most demanding environments. Designed for aviation, offshore platforms, wind farms, highways, ports, and meteorological stations, the VPF-710 combines exceptional measurement accuracy with a rugged, corrosion-resistant construction for long-term outdoor operation.
Using a 45° forward scatter measurement principle with an 850 nm infrared light source, the VPF-710 measures visibility from 10 metres to 99.99 kilometres while maintaining excellent performance during rain, snow, fog, smoke, and dust. Its open sensor head design allows unrestricted airflow through the measurement volume, ensuring representative visibility readings under all weather conditions.
The VPF-710 features intelligent window contamination monitoring with automatic output compensation, integrated optical window heaters to prevent condensation, and optional hood heaters for snow-prone environments. The sensor is highly resistant to interference from aviation obstruction lights, including modern infrared warning lights, making it particularly suitable for Runway Visual Range (RVR) applications when paired with the ALS-2 Ambient Light Sensor.
